Authors Stephen Kinzer,Trita Parsi, and Barbara Slavin are almost half-way through their five-weeks-long, coast-to-coast tour of the United States.
Sponsored by Just Foreign Policy, the goals of the authors are:
~To Educate Americans on the facts of Iran's 100-year long quest to establish its own democratic government, a quest that has been stymied by the US and/or Great Britain on more than one occasion;
~To Refute the campaign of demonization that the Bush administration and others are waging against Iran; and
~To Advocate for just and unconditional diplomatic relations between the US and Iran.
Here's how they are going about achieving their goals:
Stephen Kinzer, longtime New York Times correspondent and author of the book All the Shah’s Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror, has written a new forward for the for the new publication of his book. Just Foreign Policy used the title of that Kinzer's new Forward, The Folly of Attacking Iran, as the name of the 23-city tour Kinzer is leading to promote awareness of how rewarding a just US-Iran relationship could be.
Trita Parsi is accompanying Kinzer on his 5-weeks long odyssey. After completing his PhD under the guidance of Francis Fukuyama and Zbigniew Brzezinski that involved extensive travel to Iran and Israel and extensive interviews with government officials in both countries, Parsi turned his dissertation into a book, Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Israel, Iran, and the United States, which he has discussed on numerous appearances on C-Span and other venues.
Barbara Slavin, who has written extensively on Iran for USA Today and was interviewed by Dr. Parsi on C-Span's Booknotes to discuss her book, Bitter Friends, Bosom Enemies, is also endorsing Just Foreign Policy's effort to redirect American diplomatic relations with Iran in a different, just, and mutually beneficial direction.
Together, Kinzer, Parsi, and Slavin have produced a video that summarizes the message of their books and of the Just Foreign Policy Folly of Attacking Iran tour:
